Screened Gazebos

Screened Gazebos

Screened gazebos are the perfect feature to add to your gardens landscape. Adding a screened gazebo to your garden will provide an area of shade where many different types of outdoor activities can take place. You can use the area for eating in without fear of being eaten alive by bugs during the summer and it also makes a great play area for toddlers who want to be outside in the fresh air. You can add some lighting to your gazebo and that will allow you to use it during the evenings as well as during the day.

screened gazebosWhether you are looking at screened patio gazebos which will be a permanent fixture of your garden or screened portable gazebos which you can pack away for the winter you should think about how you want to use it. You will almost certainly want to buy a gazebo that is as big as your garden can fit. Once we had our screened gazebo installed we wondered how we ever got on without it.

Before you go shopping for your gazebo let us look at some of your options.

Type 1 – Gazebo with a Removable Screen

Gazebos with removable screens tend to be the most popular kinds of screened gazebos that people wish to purchase as they are so versatile. Generally the screens on these types are made from canvas and can be fitted in to place on the frame by use of zips or straps. The main advantage to this type is that they can taken down very easily and stored away if not required during the winter or can be moved to another area of the garden. So this makes them ideal for taking with you on camping trips or picnics to the park or beach.

Type 2 – Wooden Screened Gazebos

These are of course a more permanent structure which you can build from kits that are now available. However if you want something that is completely unique then why not arrange for a carpenter to create something for you. Unlike the previous ones once constructed it will have to remain in the same location so you need to be very careful about where it is positioned in your garden.

Also you may need to check with your local building authority if erection of such a structure will require you to seek planning permission or not. Unfortunately certain size structures that you do place in your garden may require planning permission to be agreed before they can be built. Of course the structure is so well constructed that unlike the previous model these ones last for many years to come as long as they are maintained correctly.

Type 3 – Metal Screened Gazebos

Just like the wooden screened gazebos these ones will cost considerably more to buy and most of them today are made from either wrought or cast iron. Again these are a more permanent structure in your garden due to the amount they weigh. However they are able to cope with the elements far better than the other two kinds we have mentioned in this article already. Plus you will find with these types of gazebos they don’t actually need as much maintenance as the others. Generally when it comes to metal ones they may occasionally need to be repainted.

Make sure that you buy the best model that you can afford, there is nothing worse than wishing you had bought something different every time you go and use your patio gazebo.
